In 2010, BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded killing 11 men. Over 200 million gallons of oil poured into the sea for 3 months impacting an area the size of England and Scotland combined. The first oil spills washed ashore on Grand Isle, Louisiana. Years later, while the authorities and the US government claim that the shore is completely safe, locals assert that they are still facing the effects of the world’s biggest oil spill. This feature documents the impact the spill had on Grand Isle’s health, economy and businesses, and how it continues to haunt them.
