The Canary Islands have a unique geography consisting of steep volcanic mountains which are as tall as 4,000 feet. The landscape changes from snowy desert to sub-tropical wonderland with the onset of rainfall. As survival is difficult, the islands have a distinct biodiversity that includes spectacular creatures like blind albino crab, blue chaffinch bird, white tailed laurel pigeon, Tenerife lizard and the canary island pine - a fire-resistant tree! Despite the harsh conditions, the region attracts new animals like feral cats and land squirrels. Can they adapt to stay alive?
